Australia Day 2008

January 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Happy Australia Day to all! Nothing special to me as it was just like any other day, same routine. Talk about boring.

Anyway, one of Eddie’s friend had just passed the test to become a citizen. I’m still thinking whether I should apply or not. I really regret I didn’t do it earlier because then I didn’t have to sit for the test. Well I didn’t know then. Now have to sit for the test where 20 questions will be given out of 200. It would be questions about Australia’s history, geography, people, government those sorts. Haiyo, I very long time no study already now ask me to memorize 40+ pages of information just for 20 questions? Good way to exercise the brain!

And here is the national anthem, Advance Australia Fair:

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil
Our home is girt by sea
Our land abounds in nature’s gifs
Of beauty rich and rare
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia Fair

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands
For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share
With courage let us all combine to
Advance Australia Fair

I got the lyrics from the 40+ pages book, and yes, I know how to sing it… Well, not before I got the book.

You were in Melbourne before right? I don’t know about Melbourne, but Sydney’s got lots of activities at this time of the year. It would be a shame to miss it if you’re staying there.
