We first met Flynn at the neonatal playgroup at the hospital. He was tiny for his age, as were other babies. Can’t believe he’s turned 2 already. His mummy told us that he loves diggers so the theme of his birthday party was construction site. We bought him a truck from Bob the Builder. The party started at 10am and we left home at 10am, hehe, and arrived about 30 minutes later. The weather that morning was not too good, very windy. Once arrived we were brought to the backyard where the party’s happening. There were two big shells filled with sands, a table with sands, a baby gym and a table with lots of stickers. And then there were construction toys everywhere. Flynn kept going to everyone saying “digger, digger”, he must’ve loved his party.
We were served morning tea that include sandwiches, crackers, vege sticks with dips, and fruits. Kids also had marsmallows in cones and jelly. Look at the cake that Sally (Flynn’s mum) made, so special with a digger on top. It was really yummy too. There were honeycombs on top with Fruchocs at the side of the cake. She even put an extra effort and made an additional cake for the kids without so many sweets. We always talked about not giving our kids too much junk food when they’re still so young.
We left after the presents were opened. Most of his pressies were trucks and diggers, as you may have guessed. And this is what we got from the party pack.

How come no close up of the cake???? Hehehe.. I’m very kaypo when I see other mommies bake their own cakes..
Sorry, there were people taking photos in front of me and I couldn’t squeeze through. It was very special though. You know those not perfect kind where you see at cake shops.

This is great that you still keep in touch with Flynn and his family. My daughter Airlie Fae was born at 27weeks in Jan 2006 due to pre eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome and weigh 861grams. We made friends with a number of families and 2 years on we still see them. They totally understand everything you have been through so you just understand each other. I have set up a website for premature babies with information about premature birth. I also sell premature baby clothing and gifts for premmie babies as well as baby comforters and I also have a blogging area set up called Cafe Prem I would love to see a blog about your little Ethan.
