Child harness - what do you think?

 Has anyone seen my monkey?

I got this 2-in-1 child harness/backpack (the ‘tail’ can be taken off) more than a month ago when it was on sale at Toys R Us for about $25+. I want to use it when we are at the airport so I don’t have to hold him while carrying so many things. He is a lot heavier and more mobile now compared to our previous trip. If you read this, you’d know that I’ll be travelling alone with Ethan on the flight to Sydney and KL. Before I had Ethan, I have seen a few people using them (not like this one, theirs was just a basic harness with no bag) on their child and I have to admit, I wasn’t too fond of it. It was as if they were taking their ‘pet’ out for a walk. And I said that I will not use one of these on my child in the future.

So now it’s all coming back to me. I just want to know your opinions about using a child harness. I haven’t use it outside so far, but Ethan likes the monkey and would occasionally ask me to put it on him. Would you use them?

Could someone tell me how do I allign the photo to the centre? I’ve tried using the text allignment but it’s not working and I’m getting frustrated. Should’ve just stuck with blogspot! Edit: It’s okay now cause I’ve change the template and now the photo is where I wanted it to be.

Kekeke, me and Theng Jie (or issit Mei Jie =P) had this conversation about child harness the other day because we were on the topic of child abduction (the Madeleine case (http://bringmadeleinehome.com/))…

Although we agreed with the fact that child harness, as you had said, would be like taking a “pet” out for a walk, but if you weigh with the fact that without the harness, there are higher chances that they might get lost or abducted or kidnapped to Hanalala-land…
A child can be snatched even when the parents are carrying them, what more if the child is free running around?
I would rather they got harness-ed, or at least until they are old enough, than my heart breaking into pieces if they got abducted (>

Actually I also thought about all the kidnapping cases in Malaysia and the use of the harness. So scary lar the criminals and I really sympathise the children’s parents. I don’t know what I’d do if Ethan was taken away from us. I can always use the trolley or stroller but since he got mobile he prefers to walk and explore on his own. It’s okay here but I’d definitely use the harness when I’m back in KL. Thanks for your opinions, really appreciate it!

(Continued, the last comment didn’t include my whole comment!)

Or worried should they get hurt!

At least Kaijie should use it when you’re alone with Ethan, when you come back alot of eyes and hands to catch the little puppy XD! Hehehe!

And his harness looks cute btw! MONKEY XD!~ It appears much more better than those basic ones =D!

Yeah, I also love the fact that it doesn’t really look like a harness, except for the monkey’s tail which is what I’ll be holding on to…heheh…Wanted to buy the dog but no more. Don’t mind monkey also lar since he don’t have any monkey toy. So now whenever we read of monkeys in books or see monkeys on the tv he will take his monkey out. It is also a backpack but you can’t stuff much things in there, I think the space is only enough for one water bottle.

another way to center the picture is you go into the “code” tab and insert beginning and at the end of the .

??? “insert beginning and at the end of the” ??? Insert what beginning and at the end of the what?

    I think Anna jie means…
Press shift then the coma button, type “center”, then close it. And at the end press shift and coma button again, this time put “/center” and close it?
Hopefully i got it right =P! Because your comment box cannot put the arrow thingy, which is why my comment was split into two XD!

BTW, went to Ikano today and saw the DOG VERSION of Ethan’s harness… i think! Not sure same anot, but it looks really cute anyways, and the tail is where you hold onto! CUTE! The front has more buckles one!

Ok ok I get it, thanks! I think it should be the same harness. Ethan’s one also have two buckles in front.

jojo is right. i thought i put that in but didn’t check the comment after posting it. the thing above the comma and fullstop … then put “center” inside, like those html coding.

Yeah, I get it already, thanks!

i have personally used the standard harness. i don’t care what other says or think at the airport, i am not taking any chances.

yes, i am not fond of it too, like you say, taking a pet for a walk, but i’d rather be ridiculed than be sorry.

keep a close watch when you are in shopping malls too. my friend was in mega valley, or is it mega mall at bangsar, with his two pretty daughters, and he noticed 2 men following them around. he gave them the stare to let them know that he knew they were watching. my friend and kids left soon after. he didn’t want any ‘what ifs’

it’s scary i know. have fun, but take care :)

It is true better to be safe than sorry these days, especially in Malaysia. So many kidnapping cases, so scary.
Wah, lucky your friend very alert. If me, I won’t notice anything, the more need for me to use the harness!

btw i managed to buy cheaper tickets from jetstar for my parents to fly over here in Oct. not that much cheaper lah, RM488 one way per person … a bit of marketing gimmicklah, add tax and all, came up to AU650/pax inclusive meals (I chosed meals lah, old ppl kesian lah if hv to bring own food). Promo ends midnight tomolo

Yeah, my friend told me about that promo yesterday. Didn’t you see the launch promo? The RM88 (excluding taxes) per person per way, this promo ended last night. I checked for flights in February but most were sold out. That one is even cheaper than my tickets, came up to about less than RM1000 with taxes for a return ticket. I don’t know why but airfares from Malaysia usually excludes taxes while here includes everything. Anyway, I’ve bought my ticket to Sydney. Would you like to meet up?

Okay, thanks. Don’t know when I’m gonna catch up with my overdue tags…hehehe…

  • 11 Angeleyes // Jul 27, 2007 at 12:18 am

I actually bought one for Brandon leh… Anna never use ah??? :P

I don’t know wor. But she said Brandon is still very good in his stroller, unlike Ethan…kekeke…Why did you buy for Brandon anyway? That time when you met them he still cannot walk right?

  • 12 Angeleyes // Jul 27, 2007 at 4:34 pm

It was so cute so I bought for Brandon and since I don’t know what to get for him.

Ohhh…ehhehe…That’s a new thought. Did you use one with Darrius? You know with more and more scary situations in Malaysia? Anyway, what do you think of using a harness on a child?

  • 13 Mommibee // Jul 27, 2007 at 9:03 pm

was the RM88 promo on TV? we hardly watch TV since Bee was born. Will email u abt possibility of meeting up :D Pls ignore the tag since it could indeed be a joke.

I hardly watch tv too ever since we got Foxtel. No, I didn’t want it, it was Eddie who wanted to watch sports. Yes, I will be waiting for your email. Ignore the tag? Errr…you say one ar…hehehe…THANKS! I’d do it if I don’t have to think of phrases to end all those sentences.

At first, I do not like it also. Agree with you, it’s like taking a pet… but when think of it… it’s acceptable since the criminal here getting worse and WORSEN hehehe… Better look like bringing a pet rather than losing “the pet” hehee…will buy one also one day.. the doggy cant walk yet. very lazy hehehe

Yeah, all also mentioned about the crimes. Wouldn’t want to lose ‘the pet’, hehehe… I have a good doggie…ekkeekke…Yours will walk soon.

  • 15 angel // Aug 4, 2007 at 2:56 am

I also personally think that it is like taking your pet out for a walk but at the same time as much as the image of what one portrays with using one doesn’t sit well with me it’s still safe. And i got two little ones the same age running around and with the crime rising in my state i rather make it look like i’m taking a “pet” out then have my kids kidnapped, lost and who knows what else

I know, better be safe than sorry right?
